Academic travels

In Summer of 2005, I had the privilege to travel to China as part of a two-week study abroad program with Iowa State University. I spent time in the capital of Beijing, Dun Huong (in the Gobi Desert), and Shanghai. Not only did I visit world-recognized landmarks like the Great Wall of China and the Shanghai Pearl TV Tower, but I visited with several American firms with markets in China, including John Deere, Sauer-Danfoss, and YRC Transportation.

In February of 2007, I was selected as Iowa State's delegate for the annual Columbia University American Assembly at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. There, I participated in a number of round-table discussions on U.S. and South American foreign policy. I was then part of a committee that helped draft a paper regarding the topics for use by the U.S. State Department.
