Involvement
Since November of 2001, I have mentored children through Beyond Welfare Inc., a non-profit agency based in Ames, IA. In March of 2005, I was nominated for a position on organization's Board of Directors, a position which I graciously accepted. Working with Beyond Welfare exposes me to people of all types, and I look forward to lending my time each week to people in need of friendship and assistance.
Beginning fall semester of my freshman year at Iowa State, I have been an on-air DJ at 88.5 FM KURE. In January 2007, I was nominated for the Board of Directors, and was elected as Finance Director shortly thereafter, also serving as interim Programming Director in summer 2007. I greatly enjoy broadcasting, and have helped plan and participate in several successful events such as Kaleidoquiz '07 and the wildly popular 80's Dance Party.
I also serve on the Executive Committee of Students in Action, a joint college-high school organization in Story County, IA dedicated to volunteering and philanthropy. We have organized events such as building a playground on Join Hands Day, Outreach Africa, and the 2007 Story County Youth Volunteer Awards.
